TOP 10 IN ROTATION

Okay,..I read so many blogs and there are SO many HipHop heads out there. I love you all! There is other music out there. So tonight, I'd like to represent for the other forms of music. Sometimes you just wanna relax. So here,...it's the top 10 cd's in rotation at my crib. What's in your cd player right now? What do you put on to "ENTERTAIN" the opposite sex? What do you play to wind down and relax? ENJOY!

there is NOTHING LIKE BILLIE HOLLIDAY

AHH,..MILES,...NEED I SAY MORE?

i was worried about her after the success of Baduizm and the DRE aftermath but this cd is DA BOMB!

DWELE, TO ME,..IS THE MALE ERYKAH BADU.

I SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY ON THIS CD BUT I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT OUT OF THE CD PLAYER. IT'S GROWN AND SEXY.

I LOVE MOS DEF. THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOS DEF SONG.

LES NUBIANS,...YOU WOULD BE AMAZED. MOST OF THE ALBUM IS IN FRENCH BUT IT'S FUNKY. YOU FIND YOURSELF SINGING WITH THEM EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I SAY,...CHECK OUT CDUNIVERSE AND VIEW THE SNIPPETS.

EVERYONE KNOWS,...PRINCE IS THE MAN! I GO NO WHERE WITHOUT PRINCE!

the acoustic cd is mellow & relaxing. this band has lots of soul. they are amazing.

JILL IS THE GIRL! THE CD IS "ALL THAT" AND THE BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE.

I like your taste in music. I'm a huge Prince fan. Currently, in my car CD player I'm playing The Purple Rain Soundtrack and Under the Cherry Moon Soundtrack. I saw him in concert over the summer and I just had to hear him all the time while I'm driving. I want to say I like the new album, but I just love old Prince. Basically, I love any music before he was a man/woman symbol.

Also, I love Mos Def. Actually, I have a love/hate relationship with him, but we can talk about that in another post. Anyhow, if you haven't checked out the new album (sorry! I meant CD.), The New Danger, it is worth listening.

Jazz. I'm liking the music sista. Good blend.

Well, in my player right now, I have some Amel Larrieux, Rhian Benson, Joss Stone, Les Nubians (like yourself), Jhon Legend, and a lot of underground hip-hop. I also have Maroon as well. I decided to get their Cd after hearing such good reviews about it. And, was actually surprised at how good it was b/c I HATED their first single (not b/c it didn't sound good, but b/c the radio stations & MTV wore it out! So, I just got sick of hearing it, that's all). LoL!

I have the new Mos Def (The New Danger) to, and like you, I feel "so, so" about it. Don't know if you like the Smashing Pumpkins at all, but, I'm a big fan, and listening to their Greatest Hits album as well.

Props to you for having the Billie and Miles Davis in your player. B/c from me, they definitley get much respect. I'm pretty sure if you have them in your player then you also dig Coltrane and Thelonious Monk to. They are indeed the sh*t!! :)

saw les nubians in concert four years ago. It was a revelation on all funky music that is french. The girls str8 murdered their set. heavy. could understand the words. but then it didnt matter. bliss.

They were supported by a french rap group (saian supa crew). Boy I was jumping (onyx stylee) all night. one to remember.

Got an mp3 of Tabou (The Roots remix) if anyone is interested. crazy dope tune (or choon as we say in the UK). God bless the file sharers on the DL.

Right now stuck at my work PC with my headphones on. pure anti-social. listening to the beautiful Jill Scott. "Cross my mind". lovely. music to make babies by.

"I aint no perfect man, Im tryin to do - the best that I can - with what it,is,I have..." Funny I was rockin that last night...had it on repeat for like 20min... Music is weird to me, everyone says they listen to 'everything' but you go to their house and they have RnB AND! rap...you know everying... I dont prporte to like everything...but there is a little of everything I like...I thought that last song on Jagged little pill was brilliant!...I grew up on jazz, rnb, funk...you know the 70s parents...but there is something from most people I like...I love sweet home Alabama...I like ACDC's back n black...I love Crazy Trane, and Iron Man from Ozzy...I like War Pigs from Black Sabbath...I like but cant make myself purchase 'crunk' music...I like Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, The Cardigans, Bork...I have a hard time finding PoP or rnb music that really grabs me...the last rnb album I bought was Jill...before that I thought erykah made Mammas gun for me and me alone...Jimi huge to me...Burning Spear....sorry...I enjoy lots of kinds of music....

by the way I ripped off this post on my site.

I love your choices and I have heard almost every album on this list. It sounds like it would be my top ten too. But then again, being such a wanderer and genre hopper when it comes to music, it would literally take me ages for me to come up with one.So instead of putting down the artists, I just put the genre down instead.
Cool music.
But I probably would have added Coltrane too.

Yes girl! I love that Maroon 5 CD, and I have had Les Nubian since they first came out in like '98. I try to sing along all the time even though I don't know a lick of french! Mos (in my rotation), Erykah (in my rotation), and Jill (also in my rotation), are also great picks. Prince is the man and I also feel that Dwele CD. He's pretty mellow. I would also add Stevie Wonder, Sade, and Anita Baker to the list. I can groove with them too! Peace :)

Go for it. (smile)

I love Coltrane, Dexter Gordon (especially), Thelonious Monk, Jobim with the Bossa Nova, Dizzy, Duke, Lionel Hampton and a host of others. I WOULD CHOOSE MILES DAVIS OVER ALL OF THEM ANYDAY! Sorry. I love my Miles!

totally on the same page. i have that live Maroon5 too. loved the first single - but didn't fall for them till i heard them live, opening for John Mayer (my husband). got the new Jill-it rocks. i keep meaning to try Dwele and Mos Def-borrow from my lil sis. i had Purple Rain (loved it) when i was thirteen. i lent it to my friend who claimed the tape got eaten. sorry to run on so. but it's nice to see someone 'like me' with the similar tastes. people tend to stereotype girls like us and assume it's all rap and hip hop. you should check out Cassandra Wilson who does original stuff, classics and re-interpretations ie. Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey
